Frozen Sensory Bin!

Do your children like to play with sensory bins?

Sensory bins are not only a wonderful way to entertain your child, but a great way to incorporate sensory stimulation!

Sensory bins engage at least one, if not several, of the five senses: sight, sound, touch, smell or taste.

This sensory bin incorporates sight, sound and touch!

Sensory Bin Ideas

My kids love sensory bins!

They had so much fun with the other sensory bins that I made, that I decided to make another one!

My kids love the Disney movie Frozen!

And they love to play with their Frozen toys and dolls.

This Frozen sensory bin is a great way for them to pretend play with their toys, while experiencing sensory stimulation!

Disney Frozen Crafts

It was a hit!

Both my son and my daughter played with it for hours!

Actually all four of my children loved this bin! I think it was the ice castle, they all loved the feel and look of the ice castle!

This is definitely a sensory bin that we will be making again!

Sensory Bins For Toddlers and Preschoolers

This sensory bin has something for both toddlers and older children.

My four year old loved this as much as my six year old. And I know that toddlers will as well.

Now, I do want to say that while this sensory bin is great for toddlers, if your toddler is prone to putting things in his or her mouth, be sure to keep an eye out that they aren’t putting the glass gems in their mouths, as they can be a choking hazard!

How to Make the Frozen Sensory Bin

First you need a bin to create your Frozen scene in.

Frozen Sensory Bin

I use a clear plastic tub that is about 20 inches long, 14 inches wide, and 6 inches deep.

It doesn’t have to be exactly that size. Just make sure that it is large enough for them to play in without knocking out the contents, and not too deep that they can’t reach in to play well.

Also, if you have multiple children playing with the bin you want to make sure that it is big enough to accommodate everyone.

Next gather all of your Frozen items!

Before you start

A couple of days before you start assembling your sensory bin you need to make your ice castles.

I simply filled beach sandcastle shaped buckets with water and put them in the freezer.

My smaller castle was frozen within 24 hours, but my bigger castle didn’t completely freeze until after about two days.

How to Assemble Your Frozen Sensory Bin:

Start by removing your ice castles from the freezer.

If the bottom of your castle is not frozen smooth and even enough for your castle to stand up straight, you can grind some of the ice off on the high spots. I used a cheese grater to do this and it worked great!

To remove the castles from the buckets simply run the outside of the buckets under running water and it should slide out when you hold it upside down.

Once removed from the bucket, position your castles in the sensory bin however you would like.

Next add Glass Gems to your plastic sensory bin.

And finally position your Frozen toys! Of course we placed queen Elsa on top of the highest ice castle;)

And now your Frozen sensory bin is ready for imaginative play!

I hope you and your family enjoy the Frozen Sensory Bin as much as we did!
