Acorn Candy

Acorn Candy

We love fall at our house! Of course we love it for different reasons. I love it for the tasty fall treats, cool weather, and fall decorations. My kids love it for halloween, fall activities, and of course….candy;)

We’ve been doing a lot lately with acorns. We’ve made acorn crafts such as Painted Acorns, and we’ve created sensory activities such as the Acorn Sensory Bin. It’s been a lot of fun and the kids love the change in activities due to the new season.

In keeping with the acorn theme I created an easy treat… acorn candy!

Aren’t they cute?!

And they are very tasty! Honestly you can’t eat just one. I may or may not have finished off the last of them after the kids went to bed;) shhh!

As you can see from the video we recorded when making them, they are very easy to make and require very few ingredients.

All you need is peanut butter, chocolate kisses, and pretzels. Yep, that’s it!

Acorn Candy Made with Hershey Kiss

These acorn candies would make an excellent addition to a fall party! Actually I might make them to take to Thanksgiving Dinner this year. I know that all of the kids would love to have them for dessert!

In addition to eating them, kids will also love making them! This is a great no bake recipe for kids to make. We all chipped in and made them together which made it even more fun:)

Candy Acorns Recipe

To make the Acorn Candy you need to start by gathering all of your ingredients.

Unwrap the hershey kisses, placing them in a bowl or on a plate.

Scoop out some peanut butter into a bowl. You can use any peanut butter that you’d like, but we used natural peanut butter. Just be sure to drain off the access oil from the peanut butter if using natural peanut butter to be sure that the it will stay firm and hold it’s shape.

Next take the pretzels and throw them into the food processor. You want to turn it on or pulse until the pretzels are fine crumbs.

Take additional pretzels and break them into small pieces. These pieces will be the stem of your acorns.

After you have each of your ingredients in bowls you’re going to start assembling your acorns. This is the fun part! We set up an assembly line and worked together.

Acorn Shaped Candy

Using a half teaspoon, scoop the peanut butter. You want to pack it into the scoop so that it stays together in the shape of the spoon. Place the peanut butter onto the flat side of the hershey kiss, pressing a little to be sure that it sticks.

Next roll the peanut butter part of the acorn in the pretzel crumbs, coating it entirely.

The final step is to add the pretzel stem. Press the pretzel piece down into the peanut butter.

And that’s it! You now have a tasty fall themed treat! Aren’t they adorable? And such a fun treat for kids to make!

I hope you and your kids enjoy making and eating this acorn candy as much as we do! Happy Fall!
